The Somerset Sabres held their nerve to record a 6 wicket victory over the Glamorgan Dragons in a low scoring affair at the County Ground in Taunton.

Set a total of 139 for victory the Sabres laboured to victory with only 6 balls to spare.

Having won the toss the Dragons batted first and were indebted to Mark Cosgrove who smashed 75 to hold the visitors innings together with only Tom Maynard (14) and Jamie Dalrymple (12) reaching double figures.

With the bowlers on top Alfonso Thomas (3-11) and Murali Kartik (3-18) wre the stand out pair for the home side.

Despite being set such a low total on another glorious batting track at the County Ground the Sabres didn’t have it all their own way losing Marcus Trescothick (1) from just the fourth delivery of the day.

Nick Compton (40) and James Hildreth (45) lead the recovery with a second wicket partnership of 83 before Hildreth was dismissed by Chris Ashling.

West Indian all rounder Kieron Pollard enjoyed a cameo innings scoring 19 from just 8 balls which included 3 straight sixes to turn the game in favour of the home side.

The Dragons continued to pressure the Sabres but Jos Butler (11) and Zander de Bruyn (22) remained calm to seal the victory.
