The Warwickshire Bears claimed a vital 34 run victory over Yorkshire Carnegie to move four points clear of third place Lancashire Lightning in the Friends Provident t20 North group.
Despite losing Ian Bell and Jonathan Trott to international call up’s the Bears proved too strong for the home who collapsed to a total of just 121-9 after losing 5 wickets in the space of just 3 overs.
Set a total of 156 for victory the home side got off to a good start with Adam Lyth (34) and Gerard Brophy (34) sharing an opening partnership of 40 before Lyth was dismissed by Steffan Piolet.
Brophy quickly followed and with danger man restricted to just 17 runs the Bears increased the pressure which resulted in the home side’s dramatic collapse.
Having win the toss the Bears reached a below par total of just 155-8 with Keith Barker (35) and Darren Maddy (33) leading the way.
