Tom Smith scored an impressive 92 to help the Lancashire Lightning secure a comprehensive 46 run victory over the Worcestershire Royals.
Smith (92) smashed 5 fours and 6 sixes from 60 deliveries to remain unbeaten after the home side had been reduced to 0-2 after 4 balls of Jack Shantry’s first over.
With support coming from Paul Horton (22) and Mark Chilton (34) the Lightning reached 170-5 to set the Royals a tricky run chase.
In reply Sri Lankan Sanath Jayasuriya (54) got the Royals runs chase off to a good start with another impressive half century but when he was dismissed by Stephen Perry in the 8th over the visitors collapsed in spectacular fashion.
They lost their last 7 wickets in the space of 5 overs to slump to 124 all out.
