Marcus Trescothick smashed a 13 ball half century to help the Somerset Sabres claim a high scoring 6 wicket victory over the Hampshire Royals at the County Ground in Taunton.
Faced with a total of 217 to chase for victory; Trescothick got the run chase off to an amazing start smashing 5 fours and 5 sixes to race past his half century.
The fireworks continued until Trescothick (78) was dismissed by Danny Briggs in the 8th over which left the Sabres 116-1. Briggs picked up his second wicket of the over when he dismissed Kieron Pollard with out scoring.
With Trescothick gone Peter Trego (72) continued the fireworks to help the Sabres claim a vital victory with two overs remaining.
Having won the toss the Royals batted first and after a slow start Neil McKenzie (73) and Sean Ervine (53) increased the run rate to help the visitors reach 216-5.
