Paul Horton remained calm at the crease scoring a quick fire 37 to help the Lancashire Lightning secure a 5 wicket victory of Yorkshire Carnegie at a packed Old Trafford.
Faced with a total of 163 for victory the Lightning got off to a good start thanks to Stephen Moore who smashed 59 from just 32 balls before he was dismissed by Rich Pyrah in the 8th over.
Despite being on top the Lightning lost Steven Croft (36) and Nathan McCullum (14) to leave the game in the balance before Horton’s cameo which saw the home side home with an over to spare.
Having won the toss Yorkshire batted first with Herschelle Gibbs scoring another impressive half century with Andrew Lyth (36) offering vital support.
Although the visitors got off to a good start once they had lost Gibbs and Lyth the innings went of the boil as the could only reach 162-8 which was 20 – 30 runs short of a competitive total.
