The Middlesex Panthers hopes of reaching the knock out stages of the Friends Provident t20 suffered a major setback after they were beaten by the Gloucestershire Gladiators.

With a target of 186 needed for victory the Gladiators cruised to a 6 wicket victory thanks to William Porterfield (64) and James Franklin (51) who led the visitor’s home.

Having won the toss the Panthers batted first with Dawid Malan (86) leading the way before he was bowled by James Kirby in the last over.

With Malan playing a major role in the innings Neil Dexter (38) offered support to help the home side reach 185-8.
