The Somerset Sabres claim a vital 6 wicket victory over the Essex Eagles despite a man of the match performance from Ravi Bopara who scored a wonderful century and took two wickets.
Bopara thrilled another capacity crowd at the County Ground in Chelmsford smashing 8 fours and 6 sixes to record a 62 century, his first in Twenty20 cricket.
With support only coming from Alistair Cook (20) and Mark Pettini (21) the Eagles would have been disappointed to see no other batsman reach double figures.
With a target of 174 set for victory the Sabres got off to a great start with Marcus Trescothick (78) and James Hildreth sharing a second wicket partnership of 101 after Peter Trego (19) had been dismissed in the second over.
Trescothick and Hildreth were unable to see if the Sabres home by their selves but Zander de Bruyn (7) and Jos Butler insured the visitors would take the victory.
