The Essex Eagles clinched their place in the Friends Provident t20 quarter finals thanks to an impressive 7 wicket victory over the Gloucestershire Gladiators.
Faced with a target of 163 for victory the Eagles made light work of the run chase thanks to an opening stand of 119 between Ravi Bopara (59) and Alastair Cook (73).
With the Eagles cruising to victory Bopara was bowled by Richard Dawson in the 13th over but with Cook still at the crease the home side clinched a vital victory.
Having been put into bat; the Gladiators struggled reaching a below par score of 162-5.
With the exception of Kadeer Ali (8) the Gladiators top order all made positive starts but nobody could go on to make a positive contribution with Chris Dent (31) top scoring.
