The Warwickshire Bears secured a home quarter final in the Friends Provident t20 thanks to a 9 run victory over the Worcestershire Royals at Edgbaston.

The Bears got the game under way after heavy afternoon rain meant the game was delayed for over an hour which the game was shorted to a 15 over a side contest.

The home side lost Neil Carter (0) and Keith Barker (2) earlier on but Jonathan Trott (53) and Darren Maddy made sure the Bears reached a competitive total of 112-4 despite the lose of 5 overs.

Faced with a target of 113 for victory the Royals suffered a torrid time with the bat losing openers Vikram Solanki (0) and Sanath Jayasuriya (0) inside the first two overs.

Moeen Ali (23) and Alexei Kervesee (35) offered some hope but the Royals were unable to trouble the Bears as their innings petered out.
