Broken foot forces Lumb out of Finals Day

Michael Lumbs disappointing summer continued after he was ruled out of Saturdays Friends Provident t20 Finals Day after breaking a bone in his foot.

The Twenty20 World Cup winner; who was dropped from the Hampshire Royals Twenty20 line earlier in the tournament had forced his way back into contention ahead of Saturday’s Finals Day at the Rose Bowl.

His chances of earning a recall were ended after he was struck on the foot by a Craig Kieswetter shot while fielding at silly mid off during a County Championship match against Somerset at Taunton yesterday.

The injury will be a set back for the Royals who are already sweating over the fitness of Dominic Cork and Sean Ervine who are both doubtful with back injuries.
