Friends Provident t20 winners the Hampshire Royals are in talks with the West Indies Cricket Board over plans to participate in the Twenty20 Calypso Cup in January.
Having missed out on a place in the Twenty20 Champions League in September; the invitation from the West Indies would allow the Royals a chance to play ion the Caribbean’s regional Twenty20 tournament.
Despite the offer the Royals are still waiting for the financial aspects of the tournament to be announced by the West Indies Cricket Board.
"We have yet to commit as there are financial implications. Financially it needs to stack up and we have yet to receive assurances from the West Indies cricket board," said Hampshire chief executive Glenn Delve.
The launch of the tournament; which was to include teams from the IPL and Australia's Big Bash has been delayed because of ongoing financial problems despite the scheduled start of the tournament being just a couple of months away.
