The Leicestershire Foxes have strengthened their t20 squad with the signing of Indian all rounder Irfan Pathan ahead of next months Friends Life t20 tournament.

The 26 year old played a major role in the Indian Premier League for the Delhi DareDevils during this month’s tournament after he was brought by the franchise for $1.9 million in January’s player auction.

The Foxes will now have to wait and hope Pathan’s work permit request is processed without any delays so he can join up with his new teammates ahead of their first agme against the Northamptonshire Steelbacks on Friday, June 3rd.

"It's the length of time it takes to get the permit but we believe we can turn it around in two weeks,2 said Foxes Coach Phil Whitticase to BBC Radio Leicester.

"We are keeping our fingers crossed that he will be here for the first T20 game," he added.

Pathan scored 150 runs and took 11 wickets during the DareDevils 14 group games which saw them end the tournament rooted to the bottom of the table with just four victories.
