The Surrey Lions have announced the signing of Australian fast bowler Dirk Nannes ahead on next weeks Friends Life t20 tournament in England.
The 35 year old bowler, who played for the Royal Challenger Bangalore during the recent Indian Premier League, will make his Lions debut against the Gloucestershire Gladiators at the Kia Oval on Thursday, June 2nd.
Nannes will strengthen the Lions bowling attack and will join Pakistan all-rounder Yasir Arafat as the team’s overseas players during next month’s tournament.
The Australian, who has taken a record breaking 134 t20 wickets in all competitions, will replace country man Shaun Tait, who was released from his last week due to injury concerns.
"I've moved to the UK on a full-time basis and hope this is the first of many years for me in the T20," said Nannes.
"I'm really excited to be playing for a big club like the Surrey Lions at such a historic ground. And I've always enjoyed my time playing in England," he added.
