The Leicestershire Foxes have strengthened their t20 squad with the signing of Pakistan all rounder Abdul Razzaq ahead of their first game in this years Friends Life t20.

The Foxes announced the singing after a deal for India all rounder Irfan Pathan fell through this week; the Pakistani will join Australian Andrew McDonald as the teams two overseas players.

The 31 year old, who has played 26 t20 internationals for Pakistan, has previously played for Hampshire, Surrey, Worcestershire and Middlesex.

Foxes coach Phil Whitticase said Razzaq is an exciting player who can bowl at the death and as the ability to clear the boundary.

"He's able to bowl up front and he certainly bowls at the death. But from a batting point of view, he's also very exciting," said Whitticase to BBC Radio Leicester.

"In the final six overs, he has the ability to clear the boundary, which is entertaining but also very effective. He fits the sort of mould of player we want to bring in," he added.

The Foxes start their campaign with a tough match against the Northants Steelbacks on Friday night at the County Ground in Northampton.

The Steelbacks come into the game as the last undefeated team in the county having won four County Champions games and five Clydesdale Bank 40 matches.
