William Porterfield scored an impressive half century to help the Warwickshire Bears record a comprehensive 5 wicket victory over the Durham Dynamos at the Riverside Ground in Chester-le-Street.
Porterfield led the way, top scoring with 83 which included ten fours and two sixes to help the Bears seal victory with 11 deliveries to spare
Faced with a victory target of 152 the Bears got off to a great start thanks to Neil Carter (18) who blasted two early sixes before he was dismissed by Chris Rushworth at the end of the 2nd over.
Despite the early loss of Carter, Porterfield kept the Bears in control with a quick fire half century receiving support coming from Ian Troughton (18) and Darren Maddy (11) as the Bears easily chased down the home side’s total.
The Dynamos got the game off to a good start thanks to Phil Mustard (38) and Gordon Muchall (35) who shared an opening stand of 77 before Muchall was dismissed by Steffan Piolet in the 10th over.
Mustard quickly followed before Ian Blackwell scored an unbeaten 46 to help the Dynamos reach 151-3 with support coming from Paul Collingwood (7) and David Miller (15).
