The Surrey Lions cruised to a crushing 8 wicket victory over an underperforming Gloucestershire Gladiators in a one sided contest at the Kia Oval in London.
Faced with a victory target of 156, Steve Davies and Rory Hamilton-Brown made light work of the Gladiators total thanks to an opening stand of 107 from just 61 deliveries.
Despite the loss of Hamilton-Brown (45), who was stumped off the bowling of Ed Young at the start of the 11th over, the Lions cruised to victory.
Davies (92) led the way, smashing 13 fours and 3 sixes to seal a comfortable victory with 19 deliveries to spare as the Lions started their campaign in glorious fashion.
Having been put into bat the Gladiators suffered a miserable start losing Alex Gidman (2) and Chris Taylor (6) early on after Dirk Nannes picked up two wicket in his Lions debut.
Will Gidman (40) and Jane Williamson (32) gave the Gladiators hope but with no other batsman offering support the visitors posted a total of 155-8 which proved to small thanks to the impressive Davies.
