The Lancashire Lightning recorded their first win in this years Friends Life t20 thanks to a 8 run victory over the Worcestershire Royals at Old Trafford in Manchester.
The home side held on despite Daryl Mitchell (22) and Shaaiq Choudhry (26) keeping the Royals in the game with vital cameo’s after the visitors middle order failed to fire.
Moeen Ali (24) and Alexei Kervezee (21) got the Royals run chase off to a great start before Gary Keedy put the Lightning on top after three quick wickets to derail the Royals run chase.
Having won the toss Stephen Moore (28) and Tom Smith (13) got the Lightning’s innings off to a good start thanks to an opening stand of 40 which came from just 26 deliveries.
The pair were departed within the space of seven deliveries and although Moore ended the game as the home sides top scorer, Paul Horton (20), Luke Proctor (17) and Jordan Clark (15) made sure the Royals would faced a tricky run chase.
