Scott Styris was at his destructive best to help the Essex Eagles cruise to a crushing 122 run victory over the Gloucestershire Gladiators at the County Ground in Chelmsford.
The Kiwi smashed 1 boundary and four sixes during an amazing 17 ball blitzkrieg scoring 39 runs during a 5th wicket stand of 71 with Ryan ten Doeschate to help the Eagles reach 204-4.
The Dutchman smashed 32 runs from just 16 balls to help the Eagles take control of the match after Ravi Bopara (49) and Owais Shah (40) had given the home side a solid foundation.
Faced with a mammoth run chase the Gladiators collapse to just 82 after the visitors top order were blown away by Tim Southee and Graham Napier.
Kane Williamson (20) and Will Gidman (18) kept the Eagles at bay during a 4th wicket stand of 38 but once the pair had been dismissed the Eagles cruised to victory.
