Tom Smith scored a quick fire half century to help the Lancashire Lightning seal a 5 wicket victory over the Leicestershire Foxes at Grace Road.
Faced with a victory target of 174, Smith smashed seven boundaries and two sixes to get the Lightning’s run chase off to the perfect start before he was bowled by Harry Gurney in the 16th over, having scored 75.
Steven Croft (33) and Stephen Moore (25) offered Smith support at the top of the order before Luke Proctor (5) and Jordan Clark (13) guided the visitors to victory with a 6th wicket stand of 10 runs.
Having been put into bat by Glen Chapple, the Foxes made light work of the Lightning’s bowling attack as they recorded a total of 173-2 thanks to an impressive batting display by Joshua Cobb.
The opener smashed 60 runs from just 40 balls which included three boundaries and four sixes during an opening stand of 79 with Andrew McDonald.
Despite the loss of Cobb in the 10th over McDonald (54) and Will Jefferson (42) further increased the Foxes advantage after James Taylor (9) had been dismissed by Stephen Parry.
