Lions and Dragons fall victim to the rain

James Fitzpatrick | cricket20

The Friends Life t20 clash between the Surrey Lions and the Glamorgan Dragons was abandoned after heavy rain swashed out the Lions run chase at the Kia Oval.

Faced with a victory target of 168 the Lions were unable to start their run chase after heavy rain started to fall during the interval.

With rain continuing to fall umpires Nick Cook and Michael Gough were left with little option but to abandon the game just after 21.00 with a further rain shower moving slowly across the ground.

Having been put into bat the Dragons reached 167-7 thanks to Jim Allenby (63) and Mark Cosgrove (43) who led the attack for the visitors before the game was cut short.
