The Glamorgan Dragons completed a relatively easy 4 wicket victory over the Middlesex Panthers in a low scoring affair at Old Deer Park in Richmond.
Faced with a victory target of only 103, the Dragons completed a comprehensive victory in the 18th over to move above the Essex Eagles and Surrey Lions into 4th place in the Friends Life t20 Southern group.
Despite losing Mark Cosgrove (0) after he was bowled by Steven Crook with the first ball of the run chase, Dragons skipper Alviro Petersen steered the visitors to victory with a quick fire 39 before he was bowled by Neil Dexter in the 10th over.
Although Jim Allenby (5), Ben Wright (0) and Chris Cooke (5) were dismissed cheaply, Mark Wallace completed the Dragons victory, scoring 40 runs to hand the Panthers their 4th defeat in this years tournament.
Having won the toss, the Panthers suffered a torrid time with the bat, collapsing to a total of just 102 after Dean Cosker (11-3) and Robert Croft (18-3) tore through the home side’s middle order with ease.
Chris Rogers led the Panthers resistant’s, top scoring with 30 but with the exception of Dexter (11) and Jamie Dalrymple (10) no other batsman reached double figures.
The Panthers batsman were blown away in 19.1 overs after Petersen claimed the last wicket at the start of the final over when he bowled Tim Murtagh (9) to leave the Dragons with a victory target of just 103.
