Rain dampers Trescothick fireworks at Taunton

The Somerset Sabres Friends Life t20 clash against the Sussex Sharks has been abandoned after a combination of bad light and rain curtailed the action at the County Ground in Taunton.

After a delay of more then hour, a reduced 15 over a side game got under way at 18.40 with Marcus Trescothick leading the way with an impressive 87, from just 39 deliveries.

The former England player was supported by Kieron Pollard who dispatched 40 runs from 18 deliveries to help the Sabres record a mammoth total of 177-4.

The Sharks reply got off to a terrible start which saw them loss Ben Brown (0) and Chris Nash (11) inside the opening 4 overs but with further rain on its way, play was abandoned because of bad light with the visitors 40-2 after 3.4 overs.
