Martin Guptill smashed a quick fore half century to help the Derbyshire Falcons cruise to a six wicket victory over the Warwickshire Bears at the Highfield cricket ground in Leek.
The Kiwi smashed three boundaries and six sixes to score 72 runs from just 44 deliveries to help the Falcons easily chase down a victory target of 138 to record their 3rd victory in this years Friends Life t20.
Despite the loss of Wes Durston (22) and Chesney Hughes (6), Guptill and Wayne Madsen (16) steered the Falcons towards victory before the pair were quickly dismissed within the space of 10 balls.
With the home side starting to stutter Garry Park (15) and Ross Whiteley (8) remained calm, building a 5th wicket stand of 20, to seal victory with 6 balls to spare.
Having batted first, the Bears struggled on a slow wicket and were indebted to skipper Jim Troughton (55) who scored a vital half century to help the visitors record a total of 137-4.
Troughton smashed two boundaries and two sixes during a 5th wicket stand of 56 with Rikki Clarke (25) to lead the Bears recovery after they had been reduced to 81-4 at the end of the 13th over.
The Falcons got off to a good start removing Varun Chopra (11), Neil Carter (9) and William Porterfield (11) before Maddy (21) and Troughton shared a 4th wicket stand of 48.
