The Durham Dynamos strengthened their chances of a place in the Friends Life t20 quarter finals thanks to a three run victory over the Leicestershire Foxes at the Riverside Stadium.
Faced with a victory target of 188 the Foxes came up just short after they were restricted to a total of 184-8 to record just their second loss in this year’s tournament.
Will Jefferson led the way, smashing 63 runs from just 30 balls to set up a tense final over which saw the Foxes needing 13 runs to secure a tense victory.
With the pressure mounting Mitchell Claydon held his nerve to help the Dynamos seal victory after he dismissed Claude Henderson (0) from the final ball of the innings.
Having batted first the Dynamos recorded a total of 188-5 thanks to Gordon Muchall (64) who scored a quick fire half century to get the home sides innings off to the perfect start.
Phil Mustard (25) and Ian Blackwell (25) offered support to help the Dynamos set the Foxes a run chase of 188 which proved just to much to chase down for the visitors.
