The Somerset Sabres maintained their hopes of securing a place in the Friends Life t20 quarter finals thanks to a seven wicket victory over the Glamorgan Dragons at the County Ground in Taunton.
Faced with a run chase of 167 the Sabres cruised to victory with 26 balls to spare thanks to Marcus Trescothick (58) who smashed a quick fire half century to get the home sides innings off to a perfect start.
The Sabres skipper smashed nine boundaries and two sixes during his 28 ball innings before he was bowled by Jim Allenby at the end of the 9th over.
Despite the loss, Craig Meschede (53) and James Hildreth (19) secured the victory to help the Sabres move to the top of the Friends Life t20 Southern group.
Having batted first the Dragons scored a below par total of 166-8 thanks in no small part to Chris Cooke who scored a quick fire 47 to leave the Sabres facing a run chase of 167.
Alviro Petersen (35) started off brightly for the Dragons but with wickets falling at regular intervals the visitors knew the Sabres would be favourites after posting a low total on a perfect batting wicket.
