Zander de Bruyn smashed a quick fire half century to help the Surrey Lions cruise to a 18 run victory over the Glamorgan Dragons to keep their hopes of reaching the Friends Life t20 quarter finals alive.
The South African smashed six boundaries and one six during a 5th wicket stand of 92 with Zafar Ansari (34) to help the Lions recorded a competitive total of 169-4 haven been put into bat by the Dragons.
Despite the early loss of Steven Davies (0) and Rory Hamilton-Brown (1); Jason Roy got the Lions innings off to a perfect start thanks to a 31 ball half century before he was dismissed by Simon Jones in the 12th over.
Faced with a tricky run chase, the Dragons lost wickets at regular intervals to slump to a total of just 151-7 despite an excellent cameo from Graham Wagg, who smashed 46 runs from just 27 balls.
The win for the Lions see’s them leapfrog the Essex Eagles into 5th place while the Dragons remain in the hunt for a place in the quarters finals despite their 5th loss of the tournament.
