The Lancashire Lightning completed a memorable ten wicket victory over the Derbyshire Falcons to strengthen their chances of sealing a place in the Friends Life t20 quarter finals.
Having restricted the Falcons to a total of just 81-8, the Lightning cruised to victory thanks to Stephen Moore (54) and Tom Smith (26) who easily chased down the visitors total to seal the Lightning’s 5th win in this year’s tournament.
Moore stared with the bat, completing a quick fire half century from just 32 deliveries as the Lightning completed a one sided victory with over 10 overs to spare
The Falcons suffered a day to forget; having won the toss, Luke Sutton decided to bat first but the plan soon back fired after the visitors had collapsed to just 26-4 with still three deliveries to go in the power play overs.
Junaid Khan (12-3) and Farveez Maharoof (13-2) led the attack and with only Chesney Hughes (16) and Jonathan Clare (15) offering any meaningful resistant’s the Falcons slumped to the 5th lowest total in the history of domestic t20 cricket in England.
