Chris Nash scored 36 runs and picked up four wickets to help the Sussex Sharks seal a six wicket victory over the lowly Gloucestershire Gladiators to strengthen their chances of sealing a place in the Friends Life t20 quarter finals.
Nash and Lou Vincent (44) led the Sharks to victory after they had been set a victory target of 122 after the Gladiators had suffered a day to forget with the bat.
Despite slipping to just 51-4, Nash and Vincent shared a 5th wicket stand of 74 to help the Sharks seal their 6th victory in this year’s tournament.
Having batted first the Gladiators were bowled out for just 121 despite Hamish Marshall leading the way with a rapid 41 from just 28 balls before a middle order collapse handed the advantage to the hosts.
The Gladiators had reached 102-4 before Nash (7-4) and Umar Gul (16-2) tore through the visitor’s line up to remove the last six wickets in the space of just five overs to leave the Sharks facing a run chase of 122 at the picturesque Arundel Castle Cricket Club.
