Croft to step aside for Dragons next two games

Robert Croft has asked not to be selected for the Glamorgan Dragons next two Friends Life t20 matches after being overlooked during last nights five wicket defeat against the Somerset Sabres.

Despite picking up three wickets on a spin friendly surface, Croft wasn’t called on to bowl his final over in the closing stages of a game which the Sabres dominated thanks to a world record six wicket haul from Arul Suppiah.

Having been overlooked, the 41 year old spinner has decided to step aside and give the younger players in the Dragons squad a taste of first team action.

A statement on the Dragons website said "Robert Croft has decided to step aside for, at least, the next two matches to allow other squad players an opportunity to play. Robert will however travel with the 14-man squad in a spin mentor capacity."
