A vital half century from James Taylor helped the Leicestershire Foxes seal a home game in the Friends Life t20 quarter finals thanks to a narrow two wicket victory over the Derbyshire Falcons.
Taylor smashed 53 runs from just 31 deliveries, including two boundaries and three sixes to help the Foxes chase down the Falcons victory target of 151 with a delivery to spare.
With wickets falling around him, the 21 year old held his nerve to steer the Foxes towards victory before he was dismissed by Steffan Jones in the penultimate over.
Despite a four wicket burst by Chesney Hughes (4-23), the Falcons were unable to stop Jacques du Tiot (22) from scoring the winnings runs in the final over.
The defeat leaves the Falcons hopes of reaching the quarters finals hanging by a thread after they failed to defend a total of 151 after the were bowled out for 150 by the Foxes.
Greg Smith (36) and Wayne Madsen (30) led the way before a lower order collapse left the Falcons 10 to 15 runs short of a competitive total at Grace Road.
