A spectacle batting collapse by the Gloucestershire Gladiators handed the Somerset Sabres a vital 15 run victory to strengthen their chances of securing a place in the Friends Life t20 quarter finals.
Faced with a victory target of 171, the Gladiators had reached 121-2 before a batting collapse saw them slump to 155-9 thanks to some impressive bowling from Kieron Pollard (3-25) and Murali Kartik (2-16).
Hamish Marshall (52) led the Gladiators run chase with a quick fire half century but wickets around him the visitors slumped to their 9th defeat of a disappointing campaign.
The victory strengthens the Sabres quarter final chances but it was left to Jos Butler (72) and Pollard (31) to lead a lower order fight back after the hosts had been reduced to 40-3 in the 6th over.
