The Hampshire Royals suffered a night to forget at the Kia Oval after they slumped to a heavy 38 run defeat against a rampant Surrey Lions side.
The defending champions collapsed in spectacular fashion as the Lions strengthened their own hopes of securing a place in Friends Life t20 quarter finals.
Chris Tremlett (4-16) led the way, picking up four wickets as the Royals were bowled out for just 113 with 8 balls to spare; the England bowler impressed with the new ball picking the wickets of James Vince (0), Neil McKenzie (1) and Sean Ervine (0) in quick succession.
Shahid Afridi (36) and Liam Dawson (26) offered some resistant’s but they were powerless to stop the visitors from slipping to just their second defeat in this years tournament.
Tom Maynard (47) and Zander de Bruyn (24) laid the foundations for the victory after they shared a 4th wicket stand of 51 to help the Lions record a competitive total of 151-5.
