A seven ball cameo from Rich Pyrah was enough to help Yorkshire Carnegie record a three wicket victory over the Durham Dynamos to keep their faint hopes of reaching the Friends Life t20 quarter finals alive.
Gary Balance (48) and Andrew Gale (34) had looked to put the hosts in control as they chased down a victory target of 145 but a middle order collapse had looked to put the Dynamos in charge.
With the pressure mounting Pyrah arrived at the crease and smashed two boundaries and a six to seal victory with three balls to spare, to keep Yorkshire’s hope of reaching the quarter finals alive.
The cameo capped off a perfect day for Pyrah (5-16) after he picked up five wickets with the ball to help restrict the Dynamos to a total of 144-4 despite a half century from David Miller (54).
Pyrah ripped through the Dynamos top order as the race for the final two places in the quarter finals from the Northern group goes down to the wire with five teams still in the hunt.
