Half centuries from Chris Taylor and Kevin O’Brien helped the Gloucestershire Gladiators see off the Middlesex Panthers as the bottom two teams in the Northern group clashed at the County Ground in Bristol.
Having set the Panthers a run chase of 166, the Gladiators cruised to a 25 run victory after they restricted the visitors to a total of just 140-7; the result leaves the Panthers rooted to the bottom of the table, fours points behind the Gladiators with just one game left.
Taylor (51) led the way smashing seven boundaries and one six before he was dismissed by Tom Smith at the end of the 13th over to leave the hosts 94-3.
Ian Cockbain (28) quickly followed before O’Brien (58) raced to his half century from just 25 balls which included three sixes to help the Gladiators reach 165-4.
Having let the Gladiators gain the momentum, the Panthers were unable to answer back as they lost wickets at regular intervals as they slipped to their 12th defeat of the tournament.
Jamie Dalrymple (36) and Dawid Malan (32) offered the most resistant’s as the Panthers slipped to another disappointing defeat in a campaign devoid of any highlights for the 2008 winners.
