Rain thwarts the Royals and the Panthers

Felix Austin | cricket20

The Hampshire Royals Friends Life t20 clash against the Middlesex Panthers was abandoned with just thirteen overs of play possible at the Rose Bowl in Southampton.

After a delayed start, play finally got under way at 20.00 with Neil McKenzie (38) and Sean Ervine (34) leading the way for the hosts before the rain return an hour later to leave the Royals 116-2.

With heavy rain continuing to fall play was abandoned by the umpires at 21.45 after an inspection of the very wet outfield.

With no play possible both teams are awarded one point.
