The Somerset Sabres got their Friends Life t20 campaign off to a winning thanks to an impressive 63 run victory over the Warwickshire Bears at the County Grounds in Taunton.
Last years beaten finalists made light work of a Bears, who were bowled out for just 128 thanks to an impressive bowling performance from Max Waller (4-16) who picked up four wickets.
Having batted first, the home side recorded a total of 191-6 thanks to a quick fire 69 from opening who Richard Levi who smashed six boundaries and four sixes during his t20 debut for the Sabres.
In the night’s other game the Surrey Lions completed a 17 run victory over the Essex Eagles who collapsed from 44-0 to 111-9 as they attempted to chase down a total of just 129.
Gareth Batty (3-20) led the way for the Lions after the home side had posted a total of 128-8 thanks in part to Gary Wilson who scored a vital 33 from 33 balls after coming into bat with the home side 68-5 in the 11th over.
