Victorious Lions and Falcons keep the rain at bay

The Surrey Lions and Derbyshire Falcons keep the rain at bay for long enough to record victories on a night which saw delays in all five Friends Life t20 matches.

The Lions completed an impressive 28 run Duckworth Lewis victory against the Middlesex Panthers who had been reduced to just 99-8 in their attempts to chase down a victory target of 150 before rain halted their faltering run chase in the 17th over.

The Falcons sealed a 17 run Duckworth Lewis victory against the Lightning after they reached 118-5 in the 12th over of their match at the County Ground in Derby.

Faced with a victory target of 167, the home side were well placed to chase down the Lightning’s total before heavy rain forced with the players off midway through the run chase.

Meanwhile at the County Ground in Northampton, the Steelbacks reached 70-3 at the start of the 10th before their match against the Welsh Dragons was abandoned due to heavy rain.

Elsewhere the games at the County Ground in Bristol between the Gloucestershire Gladiators and the Somerset Sabres and the South Group clash at Hove between the Sussex Sharks and Hampshire Royals were both abandoned without a ball being bowled.
