The Middlesex Panthers kick started their faltering campaign thanks to a six wicket victory over the Hampshire Royals at the Ageas Bowl in Southampton.

Paul Stirling lead the way with a quick fire 71 to help the visitors chase down the Royals total of 157-6 with four balls to spare to secure their first win of the tournament after two straight defeats.

In the nights only other match Yorkshire Carnegie cruised to a 41 run victory over the Derbyshire Falcons who slipped to their second defeat of the tournament.

The visitor’s total of 150-5 proved to be more then enough after an impressive bowling display from Rich Pyrah (3-21) who picked up three wickets to help restrict the hosts to a total of just 109.
