Craig Kieswetter smashed a quick fire half century to help the Somerset Sabres cruise to an seven wicket victory over the winless Northants Steelbacks at the County Ground in Northampton.
Kieswetter (51) and Richard Levi (35) lead the way as the Sabres easily chased down the Steelbacks total of 115-6 with over five overs to spare to complete an emphatic victory.
It proved to be another disappointing day for the Steelbacks as they slipped to their fifth defeat to leave them with almost no chance of reaching the Friends Life t20 quarter finals.
In the nights other game, the Middlesex Panthers cruised to a comprehensive 48 run victory thanks to a quick fire 90 from Joe Denly who smashed eleven boundaries and one six during his 66 balls innings.
Paul Stirling added 63 runs from just 37 balls to help the visitor’s post an imposing total of 207-2 which prove more then enough after the Spitfires collapsed from 90-0 to 153-7 during the second half of their innings.
