The Somerset Sabres lost their second straight Friends Life t20 match after they crashed to a 54 run defeat against the Worcestershire Royals at the County Ground in Taunton.
Faced with a victory target of 174, the Sabres collapsed to a total of just 119 al lout with five balls to spare thanks to some impressive bowling from Daryl Mitchell (3-13) and Brett D'Oliveira (3-20).
Richard Levi (28) offered the most resistant’s but with wicket falling at regular intervals the Sabres suffered a second straight defeat as the Royals closed the gap at the top of the Midlands group to just one point.
It proved to be the perfect day for the Royals who set an imposing total of 173-7 thanks in part to a quick fire 47 from opening Moeen Ali.
In the days other games the Durham Dynamos beat the Leicestershire Foxes by nine wickets while the Lancashire Lighting suffered a three wicket defeat against the Derbyshire Falcons.
