Heavy rain already causing Friends Life t20 chaos

Heavy rain which has swept across the country has already caused six games in tonight’s penultimate round of Friends Life t20 matches to be abandoned without a ball being bowled.

The matches at Grace Road between the Leicestershire Foxes and the Durham Dynamos and the match between the Derbyshire Falcons and the Nottinghamshire Outlaws at the County Ground in Derby have both been abandoned because of water logged pitches.

The Midlands Group clash between the Worcestershire Royals and the Northants Steelbacks at the County Ground in Worcester became the third match of evening to fall foul of the weather.

The other Midlands Group matches between the Warwickshire Bears and the Gloucestershire Gladiators at Edgbaston and the clash between the Welsh Dragons and the Somerset Sabres at the SWALEC Stadium were also abandoned.

Elsewhere the Roses clash between the Lancashire Lightning and Yorkshire Carnegie at Old Trafford became the fifth game of the day to be abandoned

The results does mean the Outlaws have qualified for the quarter finals.
