Mick Newell today challenged his Notts side to qualify for the knock-out stages of the Twenty20 Cup for the first time.
In the three previous years since the competition was introduced in 2003, Notts have never progressed beyond the group stage.
But the club's director of cricket is hoping that will change for the better when they take on Leicestershire tomorrow at Grace Road.
"We have never qualified for the quarter-finals, so that has to be the aim," he said.
"We know we have to improve to do that, particularly our batting. We have some good batsmen but we need to find the right combination to make sure we get a few more runs."
The Notts squad features several players who did not play in the County Championship game at Kent last week.
"Because of the nature of Twenty20, with a big emphasis on fielding, it will give some of the younger players a chance to show what they can do well," said Newell.
