Worcestershire captain Gareth Batty must have being rueing his decision to bat first as his side were ripped apart by the Northants Steelbacks at New Road.
After winning the toss and electing to bat the Royals top order were blown away by Matthew Nicholson and Ben Philips who both ended the innings with three wickets a piece.
It was only when Zaheer Khan came to the crease that the Royals started to find the boundaries, Khan partnered by tail enders Ray Price and Matt Mason dragged the Royals to 86 before Khan was caught by Ganguly off the bowling of Nicholson.
With such a low total to defend the Royals needed to strike early but Steelbacks openers Sourav Ganguly and Usman Afzaal slowly took their time as they looked to build the winning partnership.
