Kent v Surrey
At Canterbury Surrey secured their place in the finals to be held at Trent Bridge with an eighteen run victory over Kent. Mark Ramprakash scored 53 and added 58 for the sixth wicket with Azhar Mahmood, who smashed five sixes in his 57*, the day after conceding the winning runs as England won the third Natwest Challenge Series match at Lords.
Mohammad Sami, also involved in that match, was making his Kent debut and his four overs cost 31 for the wicket of Ally Brown. Ed Smith scored a quick 56 for Kent but ran out of partners.
