Lancashire vLeicestershire

Lancashire fell eight runs short as Leicestershire kick-started their Twenty20 Cup campaign with a hard-fought victory at Old Trafford.

Chasing 140 to win, the hosts looked on course with Dinesh Mongia hitting 47 off 36 balls before two late wickets fell to halt their victory charge.

After losing the toss, the Foxes were given a flyer by openers Darren Maddy (51 off 27 balls) and John Sadler (22).

Lancashire fought back but the visitors' 139-9 proved to be enough.
