Surrey v Hampshire

In front of a full house at the Brit Oval Surrey maintained
their nine game unbeaten run in the Twenty20 Cup. Surrey won the toss and elected
to bat looking for their second win within 24 hours in the Twenty20 Cup. Unlike
the night before at Hove Surrey didn't get off to an explosive start as they could
only managed one boundary from Scott Newman in the first over and by the time
James Bruce took his second wicket of the game Surrey were 11-2 of 3 overs.
The arrival of Greg Blewett saw the Lions had 20 runs before he was bowled by
James Bruce for his third victim for only 4 runs at the end of the Golden 5th
over in which Surrey would have given the entire crowd free tickets to an ICC
Champions Trophy game at the Brit Oval in September.
After a slow start Mark Butcher and Mark Ramprskash started to punish the bowlers
and in just one over they added 23 runs thanks to a six and two fours from Butcher
as Surrey ended nine overs on 83-3.
Butcher carried on his personal onslaught and reached his 50 of just 36 balls
before being caught by James Bruce of Billy Taylor for 53.
Surrey lost a quick wicket before Adam Hollioake came into bat and joined Mark
Ramprakash in smashing Hampshire's bowlers around the ground including 4 sixes
in the 16th over as Surrey raced to 151-4. Mark Ramprakash reached his fifty
in just 32 balls.
The pace of Surreys attack didn't slow in the final overs and thanks to some
huge sixes by Ramprakash Surrey reached 198 off the last ball to set Hamphire
who the night before crumbled at Chelmsford for just 95 a target of 199 to win.
Tim Murtagh and Paul Sampson reduced Hampshire to 36-4 before Dimitri Mascarenhas (47) joined Shaun Udal (37) for the best partnership of the innings.
Enter Hollioake, who took 5-34 to give him nine wickets in the Twenty20 Cup already.
