Somerset v Northamptonshire
Ricky Ponting's Somerset debut ended in a thrilling four-run Twenty20 Cup success over Northamptonshire.
Ponting hit 20 but star was Marcus Trescothick, who smacked 56 runs off 29 balls in century stand with Keith Dutch (47) as the Sabres posted 211-5.
The Steelbacks reached 207-5 in reply, led by 61 from Martin van Jaarsfeld
Skipper David Sales finished 60 not out, but despite some last over heroics, could not save the Steelbacks from their fourth defeat.
Somerset finished fourth in the Mid/ West/ Wales Division after Gloucestershire fell at the final hurdle to Warwickshire.
