Pakistani Shoaib Akhtar, making his Worcestershire debut, took 1-33 as the visitors posted 180-6, with skipper David Sales hitting 59 off 45 balls.
Stephen Moore tried hard after losing fellow opener Graeme Hick for one, striking 53 off 50 balls.
But his efforts were not enough and the hosts managed only 143-8 in their 20 overs, Johann Louw returning 3-25.
