Yorkshire v Leicestershire

Leicestershire moved joint top of Twenty20's North Division by beating Yorkshire at Headingley, despite a sparkling innings of 66 from home opener Michael Lumb.

The Foxes, who won by 21 runs with three balls remaining, are level on points with Nottinghamshire - while Yorkshire now need victories from their last two group matches in order to feel confident of qualifying for the last-eight draw.

Chasing a 156 target, Yorkshire could not find anyone to keep company for long with Lumb who played strokes of the highest quality - including three blistering boundaries in one over from Nick Walker.

He swept David Masters for four to reach his half-century off 39 balls and had hit 12 fours from 48 deliveries out of 107 when he was sixth out - lofting Jeremy Snape to HD Ackerman at mid-on.

It was Lumb's highest score in Twenty20 cricket, and his departure spelled the end for Yorkshire who were dismissed for 134.

Their second-highest scorer was Chris Gilbert, who made 26 off 20 balls before being bowled by Adam Griffith - Leicestershire's most successful bowler with three for 20 off 3.3 overs.

Two of the most important wickets were taken by Darren Maddy, who had Anthony McGrath out to a reflex catch by Ackerman at short midwicket and then held on to a low return catch to send back Darren Lehmann.

Despite Lumb's majestic batting, the man-of-the match award went to wicketkeeper Paul Nixon for his cleanly-struck 52 out of Leicestershire's 155 for eight after the visitors had won the toss.

Tight bowling by Yorkshire's pacemen restricted Leicestershire to 52 for two from the first nine overs.

But Nixon then calmly reverse swept Richard Dawson for six - and when Lehmann came on to bowl the left-hander hit his first ball over midwicket and into the West Stand.

Ackerman helped Nixon add 64 for the third wicket before reverse-sweeping Lehmann to be caught round the corner for 45 from 41 balls.

Nixon struck another six off Lehmann go to his half-century off 38 balls, with four fours and three sixes.

He departed next ball, however, caught at the second attempt at backward point by Deon Kruis who bowled his four overs for only 19 runs as well as picking up the wickets of James Allenby and Yorkshireman John Sadler.
