Zimbabwe wicketkeeper Tatenda Taibu is relishing the challenge of the Indian Premier League ahead of joining up with the Kolkata Knight Riders on Thursday.
Taibu, the only Zimbabwean player to be playing in the IPL, was bought for US$125,000 last month.
It means he will miss the Zimbabwe Chevrons' remaining fixtures in the South African domestic Standard Bank Pro20 tournament, but the 24-year-old believes his absence will give another player the chance to shine.
"I am looking forward to the challenge of the Indian Premier League and I know it will be tough with all the international players playing in it," he said.
"I would have liked to stay for all the Chevrons' matches in South Africa but I was told that all IPL players have to be in India by April 11.
"But my absence will be an opportunity for another player to prove himself for Chevrons."
Kolkata face Bangalore in the IPL opener on April 18.
